CHAPTER TWO
2.0 Literature Review
2.1 Introduction
A crucial component of human resource management is training. The innate skills are honed, coordinated, and integrated in order to make them easily accessible to productive processes.Training as a concept promotes human growth, and human resources are the foundational element of all businesses (Donkor &Banki, 2017).According to Ibrahim et al. (2017), training is a crucial tool for a company to use in order to achieve the maximum levels of work performance.
In order to improve human resource performance and increase an organization's overall value, Safitri and Lathifah (2019) found that training is essential and a key tool. However, the most important thing to remember is that an organization must strike a balance between the value of training and the costs associated with it. The results of this study also revealed that the impact of training varies depending on the industry.Through developing the necessary and most competitive competencies needed for employees and the organization as a whole to accomplish and being innovators in their work tasks, effective training plays a significant role in an organization. In addition, it has a significant impact on the organizational structure (Sekantsi, 2018). According to Kumar and Anitha (2016), training is a development technique that combines employee knowledge, attitudes, and skills to help them carry out their jobs properly.
Olanye (2011:218) also describes training as a systematic effort with the goal of enhancing present or future employee performance via enhancing employee performance through learning. This indicates that training affects changes in an employee's attitude, ability, and knowledge. The significance of training is made clearer when one considers the recent technical and informational advances that have occurred in the Nigerian corporate environment.According to Chattopadyay and Pereek (2006:45), training is a strategy put in place to give people the abilities, information, and attitude they need to execute their tasks more effectively. Training programs aim to develop employees' skill levels in order to boost production (Daves& Taylor, 2005:29).
